The only way I will work with Raila – Martha Karua

People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has made it clear that she is open to working with ODM leader Raila Odinga in the 2027 elections, but only if he backs her instead of the other way around
People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has made it clear that she is open to working with ODM leader Raila Odinga in the 2027 elections, but only if he backs her instead of the other way around.
Speaking on Wednesday, February 26, Karua ruled out being a running mate again, signaling that she would only support another candidate but not take up the position herself.
“Am I ready to work with Raila Odinga again? Yes, but not backing him—perhaps him backing me. I am ready to work not just with Raila but also with any Kenyan because we belong to the same country.
“I am not ready to be a running mate; I can support someone, but I am not going to run as a running mate. I am done with running mate,” she stated.

Speaking during the same interview, Karua has raised questions over the government’s move to allow Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leaders to hold a meeting in Nairobi.
She questioned whether President William Ruto intends to use RSF to maintain power, demanding the Head of State to clarify RSF’s activities in the country.
“Maybe he is hoping to one day use the RSF here in Kenya to maintain power. He will have to tell us why they are here. What does he want from them? Is it the gold from Darfur? Is it personal? Or Is he thinking of a rogue, unofficial force in Kenya?”she posed.
Karua also demanded answers from President Ruto on whether RSF is involved in the cases of abductions that have been witnessed in the country.
“You remember we once said in a statement and its true that abductors in Kenya include foreigners. I am wondering if he can clarify whether the RSF is part of the abductors. At that time, the information we had was that there were people from some neighboring East African countries. Can he clarify whether these are some of them?” she added.
