Top KCSE candidate, Brian Kamau living in the bush after dropping out of the university rescued by former classmates.
Brian Kamau, who received an A- (minus) on his 2014 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), was made to live in a bush in Kahawa Wendani after he dropped out of the university.
Derrick Mbugua, who shared the 25-year-situation old’s online on Saturday, January 14, said that Kamau lived in a bush in Kahawa Wendani.
“All that this young man wants is to unite with his dad and mum who are divorced and if possible, also go back to JKUAT and complete his course,” Mbugua disclosed.
The top KCSE struggles began after he dropped out of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) where he pursued a course in Control and Instrumentation.
He was swayed by his peers that were thriving and driving ‘big’ cars by doing academic writing. Kamau used his savings to buy an account but it failed.

“I think at school, he interacted with the wrong crowd. The academic writing account he bought flopped since he did not have any experience,” Mbugua said.
Kamau later got a job at a local carwash but the cold associated with that line of work caused other health complications forcing him to stop.
That was when he resorted to pushing a cart whose income was too little to afford him a rental, forcing him to live in the bush.
The area chief took interest in the story and reached out to Mbugua as well as Kamau’s parents.
After his story was widely shared, his high school classmates came to his rescue including the teachers and the principal.
“I received so many calls from his classmates from Nanyuki high school. They told me that Kamau was always at the top of the class,” Mbugua stated.
They went ahead to give him a place to shower and a change of clothes before they accompanied Kamau to Nanyuki, Laikipia County, to see visit his father.
In addition, according to Mbugua, Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri also vowed to support the young man getting back on his feet after undergoing mandatory counseling.
However, Kamau’s parents were hesitant to rescue their son accusing him of disobedience.
“When I called the parents, the mother told me that she would only be available on Monday (January 16). However Kamau is headed to Nanyuki to reconcile with his father,” Mbugua added.
