Siblings (woman and her brother) electrocuted to death as mother sustains in Muranga.

A middle-aged woman and her brother have died in Murang’a County after they were electrocuted in a village in Kandara, Murang’a County.

Police while confirming the incident said the two siblings’ mother sustained burn injuries while trying to rescue them. 

Evalyne Wambua Waweru aged 33 and her elder brother Titus Ngugi Waweru, 44 died as a result of the tragedy that occurred in Riahiro village within Muruka sub-location.

The tragedy occurred at a time when Evalyne was hanging clothes on a dry line in their compound.

Police sources said the 34-Year-old was not aware that the clothes’ hanging line had been connected to an electric post.

She was electrocuted in the process of hanging clothes.

Her brother became a victim after he rushed to rescue her. He was electrocuted during the rescue mission.

Their mother, 64-year-old, also tried to rescue them in vain and was in the process burnt.

According to the police and witnesses, the hanging line is connected to a power post and the brother’s roof.

Local police and officials from power utility firm Kenya Power have visited the scene to investigate what could have led to the incident.

Neighbors and area residents upon arrival at the compound after an alarm was raised found the bodies of the two siblings lying dead.

The bodies of the two were moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Officials from Kenya Power visited the scene as part of the probe into the tragedy.
