Tuchel gains more transfer control after Marina Granovskaia departure, Reports
Tuchel gains more transfer control following the departure of football director Marina Granovskaia.
Following Marina Granovskaia departure, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel reportedly has more influence over club transfers.
After Todd Boehly took control, the former Blues director of football left Stamford Bridge.
And Chelsea’s new owner has immediately put his trust in Tuchel by sanctioning the decision to offload Romelu Lukaku.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, claims that Granovskaia wanted to hold onto the Belgian forward for another year as he had only been acquired for a club-record £97.5 million a year earlier.
Tuchel, however, apparently got his way as a result of her departure; according to The Telegraph, Boehly pledged to accept his German coach by approving the £7 million loan move to Inter Milan.
The first indication that Tuchel has more influence over transfers and signings is the decision to release Lukaku.
He may now decide who would be the most suitable to take Lukaku’s spot in the forward positions.
Richarlison, Raheem Sterling, and Ousmane Dembele have all been mentioned in connection with a transfer to Stamford Bridge.
And Tuchel will also be a key voice in deciding who is sold this summer.
However, given that his current crop of attackers hasn’t yet proved themselves in front of the goal, Tuchel might feel he can’t afford to trade another offensive player.
Mason Mount is not a prolific goal scorer, and although Timo Werner’s play has improved, he still struggles to find the back of the net.
While Kai Havertz has been the best of the bunch but has yet to reach double digits in a Premier League season, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are frustratingly unreliable.
