Hassan Mugambi leaves Citizen TV for a position at the Ministry of Defence while Chemtai Goin will take a role at National Assembly Speaker’s office.
Citizen TV crime and investigative journalist Hassan Mugambi is set to leave Royal Media Services (RMS) in the coming days to take up a role at the Ministry of Defence.
Hassan Mugambi will assume the role of communication advisor at Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale’s office.
According to reports, Mugambi’s new role is set to commence in March.
The journalist joined RMS in September 2016 after serving as a news anchor at K24, which is owned by Mediamax Network Limited.
At Citizen TV, he rose over the ranks from a reporter to a Swahili news anchor. Among his latest duties was anchoring news shows including Sema na Citizen alongside Lulu Hassan on Fridays.

On the other hand, her colleague in Citizen TV Chemutai Goin is poised for a job at National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s office.
Goin has amassed nearly a decade of experience in media since starting as an intern at KTN and slowly rising through the media ranks.
She worked at Capital FM and also had a stint at Media Max, which owns K24 TV, before joining Royal Media Services.
Their departure will be a big blow to the station based along Dennis Pritt Road given the recent exits.
Other notable, journalists who have left the station in recent months include Sam Ogina, Raquel Mugai, and Francis Gachuri, who currently serves as the Head of Communications at the Ministry of Interior.
Gachuri left Citizen TV in March last year to serve as the Head of Communications in the Ministry of Interior headed by Cabinet Secretary Professor Kithure Kindiki.
At around the same time, Ogina also ditched the station and joined the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) as a senior communications officer, attached to the National Assembly.
