Police launch manhunt for suspects who robbed raped college students in Vihiga early Thursday morning.
Police in Vihiga have launched a manhunt for two unknown men who assaulted and robbed two female college students before abandoning them in a forest.
According to the police, the two victims shared a room at Kamgoi village in Hamisi and were woken up by the two robbers who bore pangas and knives, threatening to kill them if they raised any alarm.
The students told the police that their mobile phones were taken away before the men forced them out of the room to a nearby forest and assaulted, raped then abandoned them.

“In their 6 am report to police, the victims who shared a room at Kamgoi village of Shaviringa within Hamisi Sub-county were suddenly woken up by the two robbers who bore pangas and knives, threatening to kill them if they raised any alarm.
“The fear-stricken victims’ mobile phones were taken away before being forced out of the room to a nearby forest where they were assaulted, raped and abandoned,” the statement by DCI reads in parts.
The victims sought medical assistance at a nearby health facility as detectives pledged to hunt down the suspects.
“As the victims get medical assistance at a local hospital, crucial leads are being followed to hunt down the suspects,” reads a report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
