Two GSU officers dead after their car ran over Alshabaab an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while heading to man KCPE exams in Garissa.

According to reports, the officers were heading to Garissa to provide security to candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

The attack occurred at Ege Dam along the Dadaab-Garissa road, leaving some officers in critical condition.

Several other officers were also injured and rushed to Dadaab Hospital for urgent treatment.

It is suspected that the IED was planted by Al Shabaab militants who have launched attacks in the Northern part of the country.

AlShabaab attacks in the north have been rampant with several innocent Kenyans losing their lives.

The government through Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and his Defense colleague, Aden Duale has promised to put an end to the attacks and hold those responsible for them accountable.

Meanwhile, candidates in class eight and those in grade six on Monday started their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) examinations.

The examinations will mark the end of the 8-4-4 education system in primary schools.

President William Ruto and Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on Monday toured a school in Kiambu County to pray for the pupils before the exams.

“Be confident and do your best. Carry out the exam knowing very well we have an opportunity for each and every child of Kenya as you move to the next stage,” Ruto remarked.
