Two Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officers have now been reported missing after a car they were traveling in was swept away by floods in the Ramisi area in Kwale County on Friday.

KRA Ag. Regional Coordinator-Southern Region Lawrence Siele in a statement confirmed the incident

He said that the authority has already engaged family members of the two officers and an intensive search and rescue operation by a Government multi-agency team is underway.

“Kenya Revenue Authority informs the public of an unfortunate flooding incident that occurred on the evening of Friday, 17 November 2023. Two KRA officers have since been reported missing after the vehicle they were traveling in was swept away by the raging floods,” Siele said.

Siele said they will keep engaging the family members of the two officers over the progress of the search that is currently underway.

“The safety and well-being of KRA employees remains the Authority’s priority and all machinery is being deployed for a positive outcome,” he said.

However, other sources at KRA revealed that the vehicle has been recovered, but a search for the bodies is still ongoing.

The incident comes even as many residents are staring at massive losses of properties following heavy rains that pounded the region beginning Thursday night.

The rains are said to have caused some deaths with a KCSE candidate among those who were reported dead after she was electrocuted while trying to save her sandals from being carried away by floods.
