Two students from Moi University in Eldoret have been reported dead after drowning in a open quarry near the university in the Kesses area of Uasin Gishu County.
Reports indicate the two young men were swimming before the tragic Monday afternoon incident.
Confirming the incident, the police chief in the Kesses area, Charles Chacha, stated that the bodies of the two have been recovered and moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Eldoret mortuary.

He said the two male students were alone at the time of the incident at the quarry located just next to the college.
“We are investigating the incident and will give full details later,” said Chacha.
The university is expected to be reopened on Friday after a one-month closure due to a strike by workers.
The deceased students are from within the location of the university.
