U.S. opens applications for fully funded Fulbright Scholarships

The United States President Donald Trump’s administration has called on Kenyans seeking learning opportunities in America to submit their applications by April 20, 2026.

In a statement on Friday, February 6, the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi revealed that applications are now live for the 2027-2028 Fulbright Foreign Student Programme and the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programme (FVSP).

The Fulbright students programme is a U.S. government flagship initiative aimed at advancing students’ careers and professional prospects in America through academic and research opportunities.

“Applications are now live for the 2027-2028 Fulbright Foreign Student Programme and Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programme! The FFSP offers the opportunity to pursue master’s-level study in the U.S.,” the Embassy said.

The Fulbright programmes are among the most competitive international exchange initiatives globally and are designed to equip participants with advanced skills, international exposure, and professional networks.

In announcing the programme, the United States government said it is designed for Kenyan graduates who wish to pursue master’s degree studies in the United States.

The programme offers tuition, travel, and living expenses, enabling beneficiaries to gain specialised training that can boost employability in both the U.S. and Kenya.

On the other hand, the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programme is open to university faculty members and administrators who already hold advanced degrees.
