U.S. military in collaboration with Kenya reveals plans to host the Justified Accord 2025 exercise in Kenya after non-Nato ally designation.
A statement issued by the United States Ministry of Defense revealed that the initial planning for the event was undertaken at a conference held in Vicenza, Italy, from June 10- June 13.
Notably, the planning event comes less than a month after U.S. President Joe Biden named Kenya a major non-NATO ally, the first in sub-Saharan Africa.
Further, the conference was hosted by exercise planners from the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and was attended by key military leaders and planners from Kenya, Italy, the United Kingdom, and The Netherlands.
The Justified Accord exercise will prominently feature a multinational field training exercise at the Counter Insurgency, Terrorism and Stability Operations Centre (CITSO) in Nanyuki, Kenya.
Some of the activities for the planned exercise will involve military tactic drills such as the multinational air-to-ground integration, where partner nation forces control Kenyan air assets in support of ground maneuvers.
This aspect of the exercise tests and enhances the coordination between air and ground units, a critical component of modern military operations.

Given the magnitude of the exercise, the planning conference in Italy was focused on fine-tuning the operational framework, ensuring that all participating forces were prepared for the challenges.
Discussions within the planning exercise were centered on the coordination of activities, resource allocation, and the development of training scenarios that reflect real-world security challenges.
“The initial planning event is focused on building a detailed plan that focuses on interoperability, readiness, and ensuring everything is joint and combined since that is the way we will operate in a crisis,” said Mr. Eldridge Browne, chief of exercises, SETAF-AF.
Justified Accord, which is a multinational military exercise involves training and military drills for several countries.
The Justified Accord 24 was also held in Kenya with the mission coming to an end on March 7, 2024.
This year’s exercise involved 1000 personnel brought together from 23 different countries.
