The former Kenyan soccer international star is running for the Kibra parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

It’s the second time Mariga is running for the Kibra seat after losing to the incumbent Imran Okoth in a by-election held in November 2019.

Chaotic scenes were reported after Mariga was attacked and seriously injured while on his campaigns.
Kibra is perceived as ODM’s stronghold constituency.
According to an online post that was shared on Facebook, entitled “Kibera Ni Kwetu”, Mariga accused his opponents of hiring goons and disrupting his rally hence leading to chaos. In the viral video, Mariga sustained injuries in his right hand hence being wrapped by a bandage.
