The UDA Founders Association has initiated a process to expel former UDA acting secretary general Cleophas Malala from the party

The UDA Founders Association has initiated a process to expel former UDA acting secretary general Cleophas Malala from the party.

In a statement on Thursday, July 15, the association chairperson Joe Khalende disclosed that they will file a disciplinary action against Malala at the party’s Internal Dispute Resolution Committee to seek his immediate expulsion.

“We, as the founding members association, will immediately file a disciplinary action against Malala at the party’s Internal Dispute Resolution Committee to seek his immediate expulsion from the party among other remedial and consequential measures,” read part of the statement by Khalende.

Khalende noted that the association consistently questioned the loyalty and temperament of the former UDA acting secretary general.

“Before he exited the party under a cloud, Malala had developed a repulsive habit of sowing seeds of hatred and cultivating division among party leaders for his own parochial interests,” the statement further read.

The association declared its support for the ruling party as it welcomed the recent leadership changes within the party.

“The party is in very steady hands under leadership of Hassan Omar and the four issues raised that include audit of staff, review procurement processes, conclusion grassroots elections and implementation of President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) are firmly on course,” Khalende added.

The statement comes after Malala claimed that National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire were behind his removal as the acting UDA Secretary General.

The former Kakamega Senator added that his removal had nothing to do with incompetence but was a plot aimed at impeaching Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“This coup was plotted and orchestrated by two senior party officials alongside others within the party secretariat. These senior officials are Cecily Mbarire and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah,” Malala claimed.
