The United Democratic Party (UDA) has appointed three interim officials ahead of the party’s internal elections next month.

In a gazette notice dated March 28, 2025, the Registrar of Political Parties, Ann Nderitu, said that the party has appointed Issa Abdalla Timamy as the 2nd deputy party leader, programs and operations, Kevin Lunani as the Deputy Chairperson, Operations, and Omboko Milemba as the Deputy Secretary General, Policy and Strategy.

Nderitu alerted that any person with a written submission concerning the intended change should table it to the registrar to her within seven days from the date of publication.

“In exercise of the power conferred by section 20 (1) (c) of the Political Parties Act, (Cap. 7D), the Registrar of Political Parties gives notice that United Democratic Alliance (UDA) intends to appoint the following interim officials pending the internal party election,” she stated.

“Further inquiries can be made through the Registrar’s Offices, P.O. Box 1131–00606, Lion Place, Waiyaki Way, 4th Floor from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 pm,” she stated.

The announcement comes days after the National Election Board (NEB) Chairman Anthony Mwaura, in a statement on Saturday, March 22, announced that the party had extended the registration deadline for aspirants for the upcoming phase II of the grassroots elections from March 21 to March 26.

“Aspirants are encouraged to take advantage of this extension to ensure their participation in the grassroots elections scheduled for 11th and 12th April 2025,” he added.
