Uhuru again entangled in the political mess with Ruto’s allies accusing him of sponsoring Raila’s mass demonstrations.

Ruto allies have called on former President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare his stance on the mass action set to take place in Nairobi on Monday, March 20, 2023.

Speaking in Kianyaga High School, Nyeri county on Saturday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and a host of UDA lawmakers said that, due to the fact that Uhuru still recognizes Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga as his party leader, he should speak up on where he stands.

“These people who are sponsoring this mzee should stop living in denial…this mzee lost…there is nothing they can do,” said the DP.

National Assembly Majority leader Kimani IKchung’wah on his part faulted Uhuru saying Raila is being used to cause chaos.

“Uhuru Kenyatta because you are the principal sponsor of the demonstrations…Raila Odinga is a mercenary sponsored by Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said.

“We must tell our former President Uhuru Kenyatta that if he is not in this Maandamano thing he must come out, we have heard him say Raila Odinga is still his leader. If you have a hand in this protest come out and tell us your position,” Said Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara.

However, Raila Odinga rubbished claims that his mass demonstrations against Rut are funded by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In an interview with media houses on Saturday, the Azimio leader said the public barazas and mass demonstrations are fully funded by the people.

He noted that members of the Azimio coalition voluntarily raise funds for the coalition’s activities.

“Hii maandamano haijagharamiwa na mtu yoyote, wananchi wenyewe ndio wanafund. Hakuna mtu anaweza kuwa na pesa kiasi cha kufund hii maandamano,” Raila said.

He said there is no specific individual who is funding the coalition’s activities.

“Sisi wenyewe tunachanga hapa na pale kugharamia hii maandamano.
