Uhuru in an emotional interview says government wanted plant guns and drugs on his son's house

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta complained that the government attempted to plant drugs and guns on his two sons, Jomo Kenyatta, and Muhoho Kenyatta

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta complained that the government attempted to plant drugs and guns on his two sons, Jomo Kenyatta, and Muhoho Kenyatta.

Days after police raided the home of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son Jomo, the former Head of State has once again spoken about the incident claiming that there was a plan to plant guns and drugs on him during the Friday night operation.

Speaking to news editors, Uhuru revealed that the Friday night incident hurt especially after he received a distress call from his son Jomo Kenyatta.

He further dismissed claims that he was intoxicated when he visited the son’s home.

“I went (to my son’s home) because of a distress call from my son. I was extremely hurt,” Uhuru told the editors.

The former Head of State lamented that the government was out to get him and his family to the extent of withdrawing the security of his mother, Mama Ngina.

He added that none of them had received any orders to surrender their guns as claimed by the government and the press.

In addition, Uhuru said his two sons, Jomo and Muhoho, owned six guns only and that his daughter Ngina did not own any weapons.

He emphasised that his sons were licensed firearm holders which were meant to protect them and their families.

According to Uhuru, Jomo got licensing after the security was withdrawn. On the other hand, Muhoho was stated to have an interest in guns due to his hobby of shooting birds in the Mwea Irrigation Scheme.

“I know there is no provision in law to extend the security of my children despite my request. I, therefore, encouraged them to apply and they followed due process,” Uhuru added.

The former Head of State suggested that the issue of guns was a diversion by the government to shift the focus of Kenyans from what was going on in the country.

“I believe they wanted to plant drugs and guns in my son’s compound,” Uhuru remarked.

He revealed that he was forced to share security detail with his mother after the withdrawal of her security team.

“The benefits my mum enjoys are not because of me but because she is a former First Lady,” he said.

“We have to hire private security guards.”
