Kenyatta’s family ordered to surrender 28 guns after Uhuru accused the Ruto government of harassing the family

Kenyatta’s family ordered to surrender 28 guns after Uhuru accused the Ruto government of harassing the family.

The family of former president Uhuru Kenyatta has been ordered by the government to hand over any firearms they may have.

The Firearm Licensing Board in Nairobi has asked the Kenyattas to surrender  28 firearms that are registered in the family’s name.

In video footage captured during Jomo’s house raid on Friday, a police officer is heard explaining that he was sent by the chairperson of the Firearm Licensing Board Yakub Rashid.

It was reported that the officers sought 28 weapons from Uhuru’s son and other people close to the family.

They, however, did not disclose the reasons why the firearms were to be seized.

This comes after former president Uhuru Kenyatta claimed that police raided his son, Jomo Kenyatta’s home in Karen, to conduct a search for weapons.

The detectives demanded the owners of the weapons surrender their guns to the Karen Police Station after multiple failed attempts to gain entry to Jomo’s home.

Meanwhile, Uhuru vowed to defend his family against any onslaught by the Ruto administration.

He dared the government to face him head-on instead of going after his family.

“The fact that I have been silent does not mean I am scared. Come for me if it is me that you want,” Uhuru said.

“I did the best I could do for my country and I handed over when my time was finished and I will now do the best to defend my family.”

“My only plea is don’t plan against my mother or my children. Plan for me if it is me you want. What do they have to do with anything,” he said.

Uhuru added that many people in Kenya are licensed to carry weapons and followed the right procedures to acquire them.

On Friday, Interior CS Kithure Kindiki said 23 firearms were recovered from three homes in Karen, Nairobi, following an operation launched after establishing that weapons used during demos were supplied by civilian gun holders.
