Uhuru offered Raila state machinery but declined according to Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai
Uhuru offered Raila state machinery but declined according to Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai.
Robert Alai claims that ODM leader Raila Odinga declined support extended to him by former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Alai claims that the former head of state offered the former prime minister state machinery that would have helped him win the 2022 elections, but he declined, stating that he wanted a free and fair election.
The Kileleshwa MCA stated in a TV 47 interview that Uhuru wanted to appoint Raila to his government but the ODM chief refused.
“Raila was a friend to the former President. Even when he was given the option of getting an appointment in government and government machinery during the election, Raila said no,” Alai said on Monday, March 13.

According to Alai, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party’s only mistake was not being aware that Kenya Kwaza Alliance had captured security agencies.
“He wanted to win the election freely, fairly and uncontested. We did know that the security services and intelligence services were under capture,” he claimed.
At the same time, Alai said UDA needs a handshake between the ODM leader and President William Ruto more than the opposition leaders.
“I wish this country would realise that we need the handshake, and UDA needs it more than us in Azimio. We are doing them a favour,” he stated.
