Uhuru reveals role he will play in Raila’s government if Azimio la Umoja coalition forms the next government.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has said he will play a critical role in Raila Odinga’s government should he succeed him in the August polls.
On Tuesday, July 12, during the opening of Mihang’o Hospital in Embakasi East, Uhuru stated that he would no longer be actively involved in politics after his retirement but would still be accessible to assist Raila with crucial matters.
The president went on to say that he would take advantage of his personal relationship with the former prime minister to alert him to issues that need to take precedence in the nation’s development plan.
“We will be meeting once in a while in our homes and whenever I see anything that I feel needs to be addressed, then I will call on to him so that we deliberate on how to sort it out,” the President stated.
President Kenyatta reiterated his support for Raila Odingawhile throwing jabs at his deputy William Ruto and his allies for calling him to retire once his term comes to an end.
He stated that he would leave but once he is sure that Kenya was in a safe pair of hands.
“There is still a lot of work to be done including the construction of roads and commissioning of hospitals and the person who I want to hand over the baton to is none other than Raila Odinga.
The Head of State further maintained his calls for peace during, before, and after elections.
Uhuru was accompanied by Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino, and former Nairobi governor, Mike Sonko, who drummed up support for Azimio.
