Uhuru’s support for Raila was informed by intelligence reports; Senate Speaker, Kenneth Lusaka has said.

Senate Speaker, Kenneth Lusaka in an interview with Nation Africa on Thursday, June 9 has revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to support Raila Odinga for the presidency was informed by intelligence reports.

Kenneth Lusaka is Deputy President, William Ruto’s ally running for Bungoma Governorship in the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

Lusaka described Uhuru as a wise man having served as president for almost 10 years.

“The President knows all of us. He is the President and he is the greatest consumer of all the intelligence in the country. He knows who Lusaka is and he knows how I operate.

“Whatever informs his decision, I believe he is a wise person and Kenyans have entrusted him to lead us for ten years. He knows why he made that choice. I cannot pretend to advise him,” he stated.

Lusaka joined Ruto’s coalition and revealed that he held discussions with Uhuru before joining Ruto.

“I will not disrespect the President because he is a good friend of mine and I told him that I supported him in 2002, 2013, and 2017. He is finishing his term so things are different. I respectfully told him my position and things on the ground.

He explained that he opted not to join Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party as he wanted to support a faction where he was assured that he would be on the ballot.

Lusaka re-joined the Ford Kenya party in March and is hoping to reclaim the governorship of Bungoma.

The claims by Lusaka came amid a backlash from the Kenya Kwanza faction, which has sought intelligence records suggesting that Raila will win the first round by 60%, as claimed by government officials.
