CS Kuria references his prophecy that fuel prices would rise until 2024 after EPRA again reviewed prices upward.

Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has come out to indirectly reference his prophecy that fuel prices would rise until 2024.

In a tweet on Saturday, October 14 CS Kuria discreetly ridiculed Kenyans for detesting facts whenever they are told

He tweeted that while ‘ science’ predicted that fuel prices would rise further, Kenyans were not ready for that particular conversation, adding that they would prefer being numbed by anecdotes.

“Mackenzies and Ezekiel Oderos of this world will always have a field day in Kenya because Kenyans prefer Voodoo to Science,” he said.

Statement by CS Kuria came after on Saturday, October 14, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) released new prices of fuel products after an upward review.

A litre of petrol in Nairobi would now cost KSh 217, up from KSh 211 in the past month; diesel would cost KSh 205.47, up from 200.99, and kerosene 205.06, up from KSh 202.61; the prices increased by KSh 5.72, KSh 4.48 and KSh 2.45 respectively.

Kuria had after the September price review said fuel cost would surge would be constant for a couple of months before it subsides.

“Global crude prices are on an upward trajectory. For planning purposes, expect pump prices to go up by KSh 10 every month till February,” Kuria said in September.

However, Kuria faced a lot of criticism including from DP Gachagua over his comments that Kenyans should expect even higher prices at the pump in the coming months.

The CS said the whole world was aware that the prices of crude oil have gone up and it is not a secret.
