University graduate busted doing multi-million smart bhang farming in 6-Bedroom Mansion in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu county.

Police have launched a manhunt for a university graduate suspected of running a multimillion bhang growing business.

According to a statement released on Wednesday, July 6 by the National Police Service (NPS), officers raided the house yesterday (July 5) after receiving a tip from the general public.

The 6-bedroom house had been converted into a ‘greenhouse’ for bhang farming.

In images and videos shared by the police, the homeowner used various advanced methods to grow cannabis in parts of his house.

In some sections of the house, the graduate had installed LED lights to provide adequate lighting to the plants.

After conducting a search, police found twenty-one cannabis plants in the main bedroom, 68 in the sitting room, 14 in the dining room, and 26 in an adjacent iron sheet-walled house.

The police estimated the cost of the marijuana plants from the house to be around Ksh1 million.

“All the plants were uprooted after having been documented by DCI Scenes of Crime personnel, the plants weighed 33.5 Kgs with a street value of about one million Kenya Shillings,” police said.

During the raid, the police also recovered personal documents of the main suspect whom they identified as Kipchumba Michael Kibet.

Police have in the meantime appealed to members of the public for information that can lead to his arrest.

“We appeal for any information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect and urge the public to desist from engaging in criminal activities,” police appealed.
