Wajackoyah cautions Ruto against Mutahi Ngunyi after defection to Kenya Kwanza

Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has urged William Ruto to reject Mutahi Ngunyi’s defection to the Kenya Kwanza
Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has urged William Ruto to reject Mutahi Ngunyi’s defection to the Kenya Kwanza.
Speaking on Tuesday in Makueni County during the burial of one of the victims of police brutality, Wajackoyah said Ngunyi was only using his name to curry favour with President Ruto’s team.
Wajackoyah was reacting to last weekend’s NTV interview in which Ngunyi revealed that Azimio leaders funded his party’s launch at KICC.
“After betraying Uhuru, they are running to the other side (Kenya Kwanza) at the invitation of Gachagua using my name to win their trust,” he said.
On Saturday, August 12, political analyst Ngunyi made the contentious accusation that Azimio had funded Wajackoyah’s party in order to launch its manifesto concurrently with Kenya Kwanza’s in an effort to weaken the latter’s momentum.

“We funded Wajackoyah’s (presidential candidate) launch. The way we did it, we wanted it to happen at the same time Ruto was doing his launch. I wanted to do this to irritate him (Ruto). He would not want to share that moment with someone on TV,” he said.
However, in a strongly-worded statement, Wajackoyah termed Ngunyi remarks as baseless, unfounded and serve to insult his party,”
He charged Ngunyi with using his position for his own political advantage, perhaps to acquire employment in President William Ruto’s administration.
“We refuse to be used as an entry narrative in unholy political matrimony. For a man who survives by peddling false political conjectures, it is at least worrying that he will use our party to kneel before Ruto.”
Ngunyi was previously allied to Former President Uhuru Kenyatta but has since pledged loyalty to Ruto.
