President William Ruto has committed to stop the alarming rise of abductions across the country.
Speaking in Homa Bay County on Friday, December 27, the President called for collective responsibility from both the government and parents to safeguard the well-being of the youth.
“I want to tell parents; these children are a blessing to us. Every parent should take care of their children. As a government, we will do our part and end the abductions so that the young people of Kenya can live in peace and be disciplined,” he said.
Ruto’s statement comes amid growing public concern over the surge in kidnapping incidents, which have left many families in fear.
Earlier, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua called on Ruto to take responsibility for the recent cases of abduction witnessed in the country.
He claimed that if President Ruto remained silent, then it would suggest that the abductions were being carried out with his knowledge and consent.

Gachagua further asserted that he was previously opposed to such acts and spoke about them publicly.
“Today, I want to speak directly to President William Ruto on this matter. He knows that I was strongly opposed to these kind of ideas and took every opportunity available to speak against those who felt that force is a strategy we can use to manage Kenyans. I made my position vividly known many times and once or twice I even spoke publicly.
“Mr. President, you are on record saying that there are no abductions happening in Kenya. You even mischievously challenged any families that might have lost a loved one to abductees to send the details of any who might have been abducted to your office. Your own security chiefs have confirmed that abductions are happening. You must take full responsibility and immediately address these egregious violations. To remain silent or inactive is to suggest that these actions are being carried out with your knowledge and consent,” he claimed.
