Western, Mt Kenya alliance will easily win 2027; Gachagua

Western and Mt Kenya voting bloc, together with other regions can easily form the next government if they come together, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said.
During an interview with media houses from Western Kenya in Kakamega, Gachagua said the Mulembe Nation first needs to unite and speak with one voice.
He said Western has the potential of having more than five million registered voters.
“If you work hard at it, you can have five million votes. Then, you need to come out in large numbers to vote because voter turnout here has never been so good. It has always been around 65 percent but you need to come out and ensure it is 95, 96 98 percent or even 99 percent,” he stated.
Gachagua said the time had come for the Western region to stop being used by leaders from other communities.
“You have supported Raila Odinga and he has not succeeded, but he has always used your support to bargain his way into government,” he said.
Gachagua said Western does not need anyone from another community to go to the negotiating table.
He explained that Western has enough votes to go to the negotiating table directly.

“With five million votes, you do not need a broker,” he maintained.
Gachagua further stated that it is wrong for a community to go to a negotiating table through an “outsider”.
“It is about time the people of western Kenya make a conscious decision on how they can organise their votes to count and amount to something,” he added.
Gachagua said the Western region needs to realize it is a populous community.
“You must acknowledge that you are populous and you have weight,” he insisted.
Gachagua further said he is closely watching the activities of DAP Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa, former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala and Trans Nzoia governor Goerge Natembeya.
“I watching them and if you ask me, I think they can unite the region,” he said.
