Justin Muturi has expressed admiration for former President Uhuru Kenyatta, contrasting his leadership style with that of President William Ruto
Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has expressed admiration for former President Uhuru Kenyatta, contrasting his leadership style with that of President William Ruto.
In an interview on Tuesday, June 24, Muturi praised Uhuru for his approach to governance, describing him as a leader who embraced dialogue and inclusivity.
“I will always respect former President Uhuru Kenyatta. He was firm but fair, a leader who listened, embraced differing views, and never ruled with fear. We’re still friends to this day, and I value that bond,” he said.
On the flip side, Muturi accused Ruto of failing to take advice and overseeing a government that is tainted by corruption.
“But I deeply regret ever supporting William Ruto. A dictator. Deaf to advice. Drenched in corruption. Kenya didn’t deserve this!” he added.

Muturi who served as Attorney General and Public Service Cabinet Secretary in Ruto’s Cabinet fell out with the head of state after the abduction of his son Leslie Muturi.
Speaking on Thursday, May 15, Muturi revealed that he has not spoken to Ruto since January 3, 2025.
According to the former CS, Ruto stopped picking his calls after the burial of the son of former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti.
He expressed that he did not miss it, adding that he only used to speak with the President when it was necessary.
“President Ruto stopped picking my calls after the funeral of Lenny Kivuti’s son. We haven’t spoken since, and I don’t miss it.
“I only used to call him when it was absolutely necessary. So I said, to hell with it! He is not someone I cannot live without,” he said.
Muturi has also been on record telling off Ruto, vowing not to be silenced.
For instance, in a presser on Wednesday, April 2, Muturi, who had just been sacked from his position in Ruto’s administration, made it clear that he would not be intimidated.
“If their goal was to silence me, then they’ve dialed the wrong number,” he stated.
