Why Manchester City will have to wait longer to seal Kalvin Phillips’s transfer
Manchester City will have to wait longer to seal Kalvin Phillips’s transfer deal despite news of an agreement reached last week Friday.
Kalvin Phillips’ transfer from Leeds United to Manchester City is anticipated to be completed soon with a slight delay holding the process.
News of a transfer fee agreement leaked on Friday between the two clubs but since then, nothing has been heard of.
The agreement granted Manchester City and Leeds United permission to formally discuss terms with the England international.
There is no denying Pep Guardiola’s side is one of the very few options Kelvin Phillips would have been keen to explore away from Elland Road.
However, four days after the clubs reportedly agreed on a fee there is still no news on the midfielder’s future.
But there are no doubts the move will still happen.
It has been revealed that Kelvin Phillips is away on holiday.
And before the bid was made, his planned return date was June 30.
Unless the 26-year-old brings that date forward to seal the move, there may not be progress on a medical until the end of this week.
Finalizing personal terms is not expected to prove any issue with the club and player keen to push the move through.
Manchester City is scheduled to begin pre-season training in the second week of July.
And so there is still plenty of time for Phillips to be pictured in blue before Man City’s tour in the USA.
