The group was found residing in a local’s house in Miti Mbili Village.

According to some residents of Soysambu area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Eritreans were brought to the area early in the morning aboard a military-type vehicle.

Soysambu Deputy County Commissioner Solomon Nginai confirmed the incident, saying the suspects are being held at Brigadier Police Station while the Immigration Department determines whether they possess valid entry permits.

The Eritrean nationals have reportedly claimed they fled their country seeking safety, citing ongoing conflict back home.

They are appealing to the Kenyan government to grant them asylum and accommodation in refugee camps until peace is restored in their nation.
