The bank has not disclosed the value of the property damaged in the fire.

A Nairobi County official confirmed the incident, stating that preliminary investigations suggested the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault.

“The Nairobi City County Government confirms a fire at Mukuru Kwa Reuben initially suspected to have been a gas fire, but a preliminary investigation indicates it may be as a result of electrical fault. The gas cylinders located in some of the houses exploded thereafter.
