A Ruto-Raila ticket would show opposition dust in 2027; Governor Wanga
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has said the country’s political terrain could be dramatically reshaped if President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga agree on a joint ticket for his reelection in the 2027 elections.
According to Wanga, such a formation would unleash a wave that the opposition has never encountered before.
Speaking on Friday in Kisumu during the launch of the Sigand Nyinam Economic Empowerment Program, Wanga declared that those doubting it will be “shocked.”
“They will be shocked…the dust that opposition leaders will face is one they have never seen before,” she said.
Ruto and Raila’s political pact has reshaped the country’s electoral prospects as the 2027 race gathers momentum.
The alliance, which was born of the crisis of the Gen Z protests, has positioned Raila’s key allies as key campaigners for Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid.
What began as a response to youth-led protests has evolved into a sophisticated political machinery that could determine the next presidential election’s outcome.
Wanga, a staunch Raila ally, defended Ruto’s leadership and track record amid the accusations that he had failed to deliver on his campaign pledges, arguing that many promises have already been honoured.
“Contrary to claims from the opposition, the President has been faithful to the commitments he made to Kenyans. This program is proof,” she told the gathering.

The Sigand Nyinam initiative is developed jointly by President Ruto, Raila and his spouse Mama Ida Odinga through the Min Piny Canon Foundation.
It is designed to empower over 8,000 women across Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, and Migori counties.
The beneficiaries, organised in grassroots groups, will receive financial and technical support to start or expand businesses, creating pathways for sustainable livelihoods and community transformation.
“This is a direct investment in the incredible economic power of our women,” Wanga added.
The Kisumu event brought together a strong line-up of leaders, underscoring the program’s political and social significance.
Among them were Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, Kisumu West MP Rosa Buyu, Senator Catherine Mumma, and several women MCAs who co-hosted the event.
Also present were minority whip in the National Assembly, Millie Mabona, Migori Woman Representative, Fatuma Mohamed, Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Bensuda, Homa Bay Town MP Christine Ombaka and a host of MCAs from across the Nyanza region.
