Ahmednassir pleads with CJ Koome over a client demanding Ksh1 Billion compensation from late Pres Moi

Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi makes a plea to Chief Justice Martha Koome over the fate of his client demanding Ksh1 billion compensation
Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi makes a plea to Chief Justice Martha Koome over the fate of his client demanding Ksh1 billion compensation.
In a statement released on Tuesday, January 23, lawyer Ahmednassir disclosed that his 94-year-old oldest client was admitted to the critical care unit (ICU).
The lawyer claims that he was scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court on behalf of Mama Cherubet Chelugui, a 94-year-old woman who is suing the late former President Daniel Moi for Ksh1 billion.
Ahmednassir did, however, state that his suspension prevented him from appearing at the Supreme Court.
He begged Chief Justice Koome to move the case along quickly so that his client’s condition wouldn’t worsen.

“I was supposed to argue this petition before the Supreme Court this morning. Mama Cherubet Chelugui turned 94 and is admitted to ICU…over to you, Chief Justice Martha Koome.I hope you will hear and determine the case before the health of Mama Chelugui deteriorates further!” Ahmednassir wrote.
Mama Cherubet sued Moi for allegedly grabbing her land in the 1980s. She won damages but she is yet to receive the dues as directed by the court.
This compelled Ahmednassir to file a petition at the Supreme Court to help Mama Cherubet to get her compensation.
“My oldest client, Mama Cherubet Chelugui (93 years old and strong) who is in a wheelchair, was airlifted from Eldoret to meet me in Nairobi. She won damages for Kshs 1 billion-plus against H.E. Daniel Arap Moi in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Moi grabbed her land in the 1980s. We are now in the Supreme against his estate. It’s acting for “Davids” like Mama Cherubet that gives purpose to practicing law,” Ahmednassir argued back in May 2023.
However, he is now facing a dilemma after the Supreme Court banned him for allegedly tarnishing its image.
