Ruto defends his numerous foreign trips since he assumed office amid criticism from the general public.

President William Ruto has hit back at critics of his numerous foreign trips, saying they’re meant to benefit of Kenyans.

While speaking during a church service in Uasin Gishu on Sunday, Ruto said it was through the trips that he has been able to secure several deals in favour of the country.

Ruto said that he is traveling outside the country to look for job opportunities for Kenyans and to unlock investment avenues for the country.

“There are those who say I am flying out a lot, but they forget I’m the country’s chief ambassador and I have to look for job opportunities for Kenyans,” Ruto said.

On his recent trip to Saudi Arabia, the president said he managed to create job opportunities for 350,000 Kenyans as Saudis want their services because they are the best.

The defiant President said that he is scheduled to fly out in three weeks’ time to finalise a bilateral deal aimed at securing over 350,000 jobs for Kenyans.

“Last week, I was in Saudi Arabia and they told me they are looking for 350,000 people to work there. They told me that Kenyans are the most hardworking. I will return (to Saudi) in another three weeks to sign a bilateral labour agreement,” he explained.

Ruto said the 350,000 jobs he is chasing in the Middle East are part of the 2.1 million jobs he has negotiated for Kenyans in recent months.

Several Kenyans have critisised the president’s numerous foreign trips ever since he took over the leadership mantle.

Just this weekend, Ruto was in Congo to attend the Three Basins Climate Change Summit.

This was President’s Ruto 39th trip since he assumed office last year in September.

However, his team has supported the trips, saying they are for the benefit of the country.
