Speaking during a Friday interview on Western Kenya radio stations in Kakamega, Mudavadi said the Amani National Congress (ANC) has been dissolved and called on former members and supporters to consolidate under UDA for greater influence.
“Mimi ndiye nilikuwa nguvu katika ANC, na tulipitia utaratibu ulioko mpaka tukafikia kiwango cha kusema ANC imevunjiliwa mbali,” he said, underscoring that the party no longer exists as an independent political vehicle.
Addressing a recent court ruling that questioned the legality of the merger with UDA, Mudavadi dismissed it as unenforceable.
“Hiyo ni kama kupe imekwama kwa ngozi ya ng’ombe ambaye amechinjwa,” he said.
The PCS said legal challenges would not change the political reality and encouraged his supporters to focus on building strength within UDA rather than getting bogged down in technicalities.
Mudavadi also called for greater unity within the Western community, stressing that the region must work together to secure national leadership roles.
“Mimi nataka kuambia watu wa Magharibi, tunataka uongozi wa kitaifa. Hiyo tutatafuta tukiwa UDA, tuwe na uzito tukiwa UDA, tuwe na wafuasi wengi tukiwa ndani,” he said, highlighting the need for a strong and coordinated political base.
Mudavadi said that when President William Ruto completes his term in 2032, leaders from Western Kenya will have the opportunity to contest for key positions if they remain united under a strong party structure like UDA.

His comments come amid ongoing negotiations between UDA and the ODM, which are still in progress.
Mudavadi clarified that while UDA recognizes ODM as a political party, no formal resolution has been passed to work with a particular group of ODM leaders.
He emphasised that discussions are consultative, and internal negotiations within UDA are continuing to ensure a strategic approach before any coalition is formalised.
The backdrop to these developments is a growing split within ODM, fueled by debates over alignment with UDA and differing visions for the party’s future.
Mudavadi’s intervention appears aimed at consolidating Western Kenya’s political weight, ensuring that the region has a strong voice and influence within UDA, and positioning his supporters for leadership opportunities in the post-Ruto political landscape.
