Arsenal postpones move for three players as they prioritize on Gabriel Jesus’s replacement after the Brazillian picked an injury during World Cup.
Following Gabriel Jesus’ knee injury, Arsenal have “postponed” their efforts to sign a winger, according to Calciomercato.com.
Mykhaylo Mudryk of Shakhtar Donetsk was the target of an approach from the Gunners in January, with Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich and Marco Asensio of Real Madrid being the two main options.
However, the London club has altered its priorities as a result of Jesus’ injury. The Brazilian’s absence is anticipated to last up to three months, therefore finding a substitute for their number nine is now of utmost importance.
Reports have already surfaced suggesting that moves for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix or Lille’s Jonathan David could be considered when the transfer window reopens.
However, neither would be cheap, and it’s likely that Arsenal will consider looking at some low-cost options, with Jesus set to be back at the start of March.
One potential solution is to recall Folarin Balogun from his loan spell at Reims next month.
The 21-year-old has been in good form since making the switch to France, scoring eight goals in 15 appearances.
