Azimio moves to hold rallies on weekdays in its counter strategy to frustrate President William Ruto’s government.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, January, 31 Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said they were planning to further increase the number of Azimio rallies despite opposition from the government.

“We in Azimio will continue hosting rallies in this country. Next weekend, we’ll be in Kibera, and the other weekend, we’ll be in Machakos. Eventually, we’ll start doing those demonstrations in the mid of the week,” he said.

He added that their goal was to address the promises made to Kenyans by the Kwenya Kwanza government, not to create instability in the country.

“Since they came to power we have seen prices of foodstuff go up, electricity has gone up by over 30 percent, sugar up by over 21 percent, potatoes up by over 41 percent, and transportation cost has become unaffordable,” he indicated.

Kioni further urged President Ruto to look for better ways to serve Kenyans with lies as they were tired and could no longer fall for them.

“This issue of telling Kenyans lies is an old tactic that used to work before the era we are in today. In the era of social media, they should come up with a new way of lying to Kenyans,” he highlighted.

The Jubilee secretary general added that the opposition would no longer sit and watch the country being led to a den of debts.

“How can you borrow Ksh500 billion in three months when there is no project going on in the country? We will not allow you,” he challenged Ruto.

Kioni made his comments following Ruto’s criticism of former president Uhuru Kenyatta for his participation in Azimio demonstrations and tax cheating.

The president issued a warning to a group of Kenyans he accused of tax evasion and supporting protests organized by Azimio leader Raila Odinga in a covert attack on his predecessor.

The former president, however, responded to the President Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza politicians’ allegations of tax cheating.

“Don’t worry about these people who are making noise, people who have nothing else to do will always make noise. That’s life. We’ll mind our business,” Uhuru stated.
