Eugene Wamalwa, an Azimio member of the National Dialogue Committee rejects the final report recommendations.

National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) member Eugene Wamalwa has expressed his disapproval of the committee’s findings, citing the purported exclusion of important cost-of-living issues.

Speaking to a congregation on Sunday at Tingolo Catholic Church in Busia County, the former Defence Cabinet Secretary vowed not to sign the report and rejected any sitting allowance associated with it.

“I didn’t and will not append my signature to the NADCO report and have not and will not accept any sitting allowance for the same because I believe we did not do justice to the single most important issue to Kenyans; the cost of living,” he said.

In addition, Azimio principal Martha Karua has also vowed to reject the report if it neglects issues like the cost of living, electoral justice, and respect for multiparty democracy.

“Any purported agreement that does not immediately impact on the cost of living, electoral justice, and respect for multiparty democracy is a fraud on the people and must be rejected,” Karua posted on X on Sunday.

Meanwhile, President William Ruto embraced the recommendations of the Dialogue Committee.

Speaking in Nairobi on Sunday, November 26, while attending a church service, the president observed that the provisions in the final report were practical.

He said he would honour his bit and leave the rest to the National Assembly.

“The national dialogues team is done with its work and we congratulate them. All their recommendations are correct. Where they have recommended we tone down on travel for government officials we have already done that.

“All the other things recommended there is now left for the National Assembly to deliberate on them as we embark on building the nation,” said Ruto.
