Azimio members differ over whitleblower expose that Raila won the August polls following jeremiah Kioni revealations.
The report Jeremiah Kioni released on how Raila Odinga was rigged out of the election caused some Azimio members to question the Authenticity of the report.
The report’s flaws were exposed by Wiper’s deputy party leader Farah Maalim on January 19, who rejected the 3 million vote margin that American whistleblowers claimed to have discovered.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s Daybreak Show on Thursday, MP Maalim said that the vote margin claimed by Azimio is a false probability as all odds had shown that the election was a close contest between President Ruto and Mr.Odinga.
“I have my doubts about it because one thing you could tell me is that things were manipulated and Raila won but again that kind of a margin, 3 million votes, that puts a serious doubt on the authenticity of such claim,” he said.
“All indications in all the polls showed that this was going to be a very close election and I’m one person who is in Azimio because I believe in parties being institutions within themselves. I have mentioned it a number of times that I had my doubts whether Raila would have a chance against William Ruto in this election.”

Maalim’s sentiments were shared by former Nyeri Town lawmaker Ngunjiri Wambugu, who asked Kioni not to take the country several steps back
“Kioni has to let this go. The far we have reached, it does not matter what the truth is anymore. It is too late and the Majority of Kenyans have moved on. We are where we are. It is what it is,” Wambugu noted.
The Wiper deputy reckoned that while there were doubts on whether Kenya had an institution with the capacity to properly conduct elections, he cautioned against double standards.
“Whether we have free and fair elections, no. Sometimes both sides rig, especially in their strongholds and where you do not have agents,” Maalim stated.
Maalim did, however, ask the Azimio team to shed more light on the claims, noting that the issues they raised require appropriate clarification.
“There could have been a serious claim but I doubt that kind of magnitude. But when you read the claims and you get someone who said they were an insider you begin again to want to hear more of it,” he said.
“There are a lot of things that need to be brought out into the open to at least make Kenyans understand what exactly are the issues that were brought up.”
