Azimio tables motion to discuss DP Gachagua over his utterances that ‘Kenya is a Limited Company’
Azimio tables motion to discuss DP Gachagua over his utterances that ‘Kenya is a Limited Company’.
All eyes are on Senate Speaker Amason Kingi if he’ll approve a motion to discuss the utterances of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that ‘Kenya is a Limited Company’.
The question of whether Gachagua’s position is also the official government position is the focus of a motion that was drafted by Nairobi Senator and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
If taxes are utilized to serve only some segments of the population, does the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) still have the authority to collect them from all Kenyans?
“Can the two offices confirm that the continued divisive politics of the DP are entrenched in the Kenya Kwanza DNA and Kenyans can therefore expect nothing better in the coming years?” posed Sifuna in his motion.
The Azimio lawmaker questioned if the utterances of the DP should be considered fair if sections of Kenya marginalized by the official position of the regime proceed to create their own revenue collection authority in order to provide services in areas considered non-shareholders by the current Kenya Kwanza regime.

Sifuna argued Kenya is a sovereign state and a constitutional democracy in which the rights of citizens are guaranteed under the constitution and that the principles of equality and equity are enshrined in Article 27 of our constitution.
“Every person is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and equal benefit of the law”. No election victory or loss can negate these principles. The right to make a choice at an election is itself a powerful tool of democracy that safeguards citizens against dictatorship and entrenched marginalization,” reads part of Sifuna’s motion.
According to the promoter of the motion, the key objective of the KRA is to collect taxes from all eligible Kenyans as a way of availing the funds to run the state.
