The chief of Kitui County’s Miamabani location is recovering from arrow wounds sustained in an altercation with a man whose homestead he invaded on suspicion of selling marijuana, or “bhang.”
Chief Muthoka Kilonzo went to Simon Nziu’s homestead on Tuesday evening accompanied by the area assistant chief after receiving a tip from residents that Nziu had been selling drugs to youth in the Kayongo area.

However, during the raid, the bhang dealer escaped and came back wielding a bow and arrows, shooting the chief in the arm and leg.
The administrators had seized about 50 kilograms of marijuana from Nziu.
“He came back with his brother carrying a bow, arrows, and machete,” Kilonzo said, adding that he was treated at a nearby medical facility and discharged.
Police have, however, launched a manhunt for the bhang dealer who is said to be in his 30s.
