A group of boda boda riders has set an Audi A3 hatchback on fire in Makongeni, Thika, after it was involved in an accident.
The accident that occurred on Sunday, September 7, claimed the lives of a bodaboda rider and his passenger.
The incident angered boda boda operators in the Makongeni area, who then torched the Audi A3.
Photos and videos of the incident showed the luxury car engulfed in flames as thick smoke billowed into the sky.
The incident attracted Makongeni residents, who watched from a distance as the car was reduced to ashes.
The incident comes days after a Super Metro was set on fire after being involved in an accident along Thika Road.

In a statement on September 2, the company said the accident occurred as the bus was traveling downhill behind a tuk-tuk that attempted to change lanes.
“Super Metro Limited deeply regrets to confirm a tragic accident that occurred on September 1, 2025, involving one of our buses, registration number KCZ358N, along Juja.
“While traveling downhill, the bus was following a tuk-tuk that attempted to change lanes. A motorbike rider, overtaking at high speed, swerved to avoid the tuk-tuk, struck a pavement, and fell. Tragically, the rider was fatally injured by the bus and passed away at the scene,” the statement read.
The company confirmed that officers from Juja Police Station are investigating the incident, and pledged full cooperation.
On August 16, another group of boda boda operators torched a Land Rover breakdown along the Thika Super highway.
The Land Rover breakdown was being driven on the wrong lane when it crashed into three boda boda riders at the Survey area near KCA University.
The breakdown had been called by the police to tow a bus involved in a minor accident when it rammed into the riders while joining the main highway from a feeder road.
According to the eyewitnesses, two riders were killed on the spot, and one was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital.
The occupants of the breakdown then took off from the scene, leaving the vehicle in the hands of the riders who set it on fire.
