Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq calls upon Muslim countries to support Palestine as Hamas take on Israel

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq calls upon Muslim countries to support Palestine as Hamas take on Israel.

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has called upon the 57 Muslim countries to support Hamas in their fight against Israel’s illegal and unjust occupation of Palestine.

“We stand with the Palestinians until the liberation of Jerusalem. The nation of Pakistan is ready for all kinds of cooperation with Hamas,” the JI chief said while addressing a news conference on Sunday.

Siraj said that Palestinians were fighting against oppression and cruel occupation and Muslim rulers are afraid.

“The US supported Israel and the Muslim world remained a silent spectator.”

He said, “I want to say to the president, prime minister, and army chief that Pakistan is an ideological country. Pakistan announced support for the Palestinians from the first day. Pakistan will always support the Palestinians compared to Israel.”

He called upon the United Nations to support the oppressed Palestinians. “It is time to test the honour of the Muslim world.”

He said, “The sun of freedom will rise soon. Al-Aqsa Mosque is the holy centre of Muslims. Living and dying for the protection of Al-Aqsa Mosque is a great jihad.”

Siraj said, “If we get a chance, we will first bring the system of Quran and Sunnah. The world’s tyrannical powers do not want to see Pakistan becoming a fortress of Islam. All these people are slaves of the IMF (International Monetary Fund).”

The JI chief said the people “who pass the bill cannot make any changes”.

He said, “Hundreds of our people have been in parliament but no one is accused of corruption. In Pakistan, the JI is the only corruption-free party.”

Siraj said the solution to the problems of the Ummah was in the complete obedience of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings. “When the teachings of the Quran will be common, only then will things be blessed in life.”

He said the entire Ummah salutes the Palestinians for their struggle to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque, urging the Muslim countries to fully support them in this difficult time instead of leaving them alone.

On the ongoing economic hardships in the country, Siraj said that there could be no improvement in the economy due to the usury system.

“Relief should be given to the people. We demand an immediate reduction in the electricity tariff, food, and petrol prices.”

Terming the JI as the voice of the people’s rights and the hope of the country, Siraj said they would continue the peaceful protest movement.

Meanwhile, the foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq exchanged views on the latest developments in Palestine in a phone call late Sunday, said the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

In a statement, the ministry said that Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein discussed bilateral relations and the situation in Palestine amid ongoing hostilities between Palestinian resistance groups and Israel.

The two sides, the statement noted, “emphasized the need for coordination and coherence among Muslim countries in supporting” the Palestinian nation and called for a special session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Palestine.

Iran’s foreign minister, speaking to his Iraqi counterpart, asserted that the Palestinian nation has a “legitimate right to resist aggression and occupation,” the ministry statement noted, adding the latest operation is a “natural response to the continuous aggression” of Israel against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinian people.

Amir-Abdollahian called for the “coordinated and effective action of Islamic countries to help Palestine and stop the aggressive attacks of the Zionist regime against the women and children of Gaza and the West Bank,” the statement added.

The Gaza-based Hamas resistance group launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel early Saturday, firing a barrage of rockets.

It said the surprise attack was in response to the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and increased settler violence.

At least 700 Israelis have been killed and over 2,300 others wounded in the attack, according to the Israeli Health Ministry.

In retaliation, the Israeli army initiated Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 413 Palestinians and wounding at least 2,300 others.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to use all of Israel’s strength to destroy Hamas’ capabilities and “take revenge for this black day.

Earlier on Sunday, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi said Tehran supports the “legitimate defense of the Palestinian nation.”

He called on Muslim countries to support the Palestinian nation, emphasizing that oppression and injustice, insults to Palestinian women and prisoners, and the desecration of the Al-Aqsa “will not last.”
