A family in Embu Town is pleading with the housing authorities at the national level for help after they were evicted from a government residence in Embu County.
According to 50-year-old Alousio Kariuki, his wife has been employed as a casual worker at the Embu Level 5 Teaching and Referral Hospital for the past 20 years.
The family said allocated the house four years ago due to the condition of her mother who has been in ill health.

He claimed that despite their pleas, the officials in charge of the house ignored them and that their lack of a pay slip was the basis for their eviction.
Kariuki’s wife, Joycelyn Kagendo, said the family’s household items were destroyed during the eviction and thrown out in the rain.
She said she does not have arrears on the Ksh. 1,000 per month rent.
CECM in charge of Lands at the County of Embu Raymond Kinyua condemned the evictions noting that there should be humanitarian considerations due to the ongoing rains.
He also called for collaboration between the National and County Government officials to sort out some of the cross-cutting issues affecting the residents.
