Azimio, UDA youth clash in Kisii County with least four persons injured in the Saturday morning melee.
At least four youths were injured on Saturday, February 18, 2023, after Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance and Kenya Kwanza supporters clashed.
The chaos erupted near Ram Hospital along Daraja Moja-Nyamataro bypass after several youths who had filtered out of Kisii County Assembly pelted stones at UDA supporters who were holding demos.
United Democratic Alliance (UDA) group leader Fred Nunda condemned the violence saying that they were holding peaceful demonstrations when they were provoked by the rival group.
Nunda explained that UDA supporters were holding peaceful demos to protest remarks by Azimio leader Raila Odinga and Siaya governor James Orengo during a rally in Kisii on Friday.

“They began throwing stones at us. We did not have any issues with them, we only had misgivings with the way ODM leader Raila Odinga and Siaya Senator James Orengo used their rally in Kisii to trade very disparaging remarks on our leaders,” Nunda told the press.
A police officer in riot gear was also suffered slight injuries on the back after he was pelted with a stone.
Azimio leader Raila Odinga on Friday led an anti-government rally in Kisii.
The opposition chief urged Azimio supporters gathered at the Kisii stadium to reject what he termed as Ruto’s dictatorial rule.
