Chelsea to announce a major new ‘signing’ -Christopher Vivell next week with Boehly’s recruitment team taking shape.

Christopher Vivell’s appointment as Chelsea’s new technical director is imminent.

The German has been waiting for official approval to join the Blues after being released by RB Leipzig for a number of months.

His departure from the Bundesliga team was revealed in October, with “differences of opinion” cited as the cause.

Behind the scenes, Todd Boehly and the new ownership group have been quite active in removing the old heirarchy and bringing in the new one.

Bruce Buck, Petr Cech, and Marina Granovskaia were all permitted to leave during the summer since Paul Winstanley, Joe Shields, and Laurence Stewart had already been appointed.

With Winstanley serving as Director of Global Talent and Transfers, Shields as Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent, and Stewart serving as Technical Director with an emphasis on international football, Vivell is expected to hold the most senior position.

After months of waiting for an announcement, German reporter Florian Plettenberg tweeted some good news for Blues fans, writing: “If everything goes right the deal could be announced this week!

Contracts signed & visa done as reported. He should start as Chelsea’s new Technical Director in December. New leadership at #CFC in progress, new transfer strategy the next windows.”

Even while the benefits of the new model won’t likely be felt right away, Vivell’s official appointment could be crucial for a busy 2023 as the January window is just around the corner.

Before beginning at Stamford Bridge the next year, Stewart and Shields are currently finishing out their contracts with Monaco and Southampton, respectively.

Boehly and company moved quickly to obtain a pre-agreement with France forward, and Christopher Nkunku is anticipated to join Chelsea next summer as a result. This is the team’s first signing of the new year.
