Anne Amadi, Chief Registrar of Judiciary terms the Ksh.89M gold scam allegations as “False and Malicious”.

Chief Registrar Judiciary Anne Amadi has dismissed allegations leveled against her in a gold scam case filed at the High Court of Kenya.

Her response came shortly after High Court Justice David Majanja ordered the freezing of Amadi and her son Brian Ochieng’s bank accounts in response to demands made by Bruton Gold Trading LLC, a Dubai-based company that launched a case against the two and other defendants.

The company claims that Amadi and Brian illegally collected KSh 89 million for gold they did not offer while working for their law firm, Amadi and Associates Advocates.

The Dubai company claims that it was interested in buying gold from Kenya and was introduced by one of the suspects, Daniel Ndegwa Kangara.

They alleged that after the agreement between the parties, Kangara was to deliver gold which would then be exported to Dubai for sale.

It is their argument that the money was sent to Ms. Amadi’s law firm, but that no gold was ever exported from Kenya to Dubai.

In suing the Judiciary Registrar, they claim that investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that she is the registered proprietor of Amadi and Associates Advocates.

Speaking to the media, Amadi termed the accusations as false and malicious but did not comment further on the matter, saying it was already in court.

She vowed to put up a solid defense against the accusations in court, saying that she was working on her response ahead of filing before the judge.

“I am filing my response in court as soon as my papers are ready. The allegations are false and malicious. I will share my response once ready,” she said.

The case is set to come up in court on Tuesday, May 23 before Justice David Majanja for further directions.
