Moses Kuria blames DP Rigathi Gachagua after missing out list of State honours, EGH Commendation.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has expressed his displeasure at being left out of the list of State honourees announced by President William Ruto on Tuesday, December 12.

Kuria, who shared the full list of awardees by President William Ruto, appeared to suggest malice by Gachagua given most of his colleagues were included as recipients of the prestigious recognition.

Kuria took to his X account to share a cryptic message, accompanied by two photos.

One photo showed the names of those who received the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (E.G.H.) award, the highest State honour.

The other photo showed the members of the National and County Government Honours Advisory Committee, a key office under the Office of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“We shall be there no matter what,” Kuria wrote, implying that he was not deterred by the snub.

EGH is the highest honor bestowed for citizens singled out for excellence but is mostly reserved for top-ranking officials.

His Cabinet colleagues who honoured include Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, her EAC counterpart Malonza Peninah, ICT CS Owalo Eliud Okech, Lands CS Njeru Zachariah Mwangi, Energy CS Davis Chirchir and Trade CS Rebecca Miano among others.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, another nominee who was in the running for the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) award, also complained, albeit sarcastically, when he noticed that his name was missing from the final list.

“I respect Ruto’s decision denying me the national honors I had been nominated for,” Sifuna lamented.

“I always suspected the disdain was mutual. I thank Parliament for the nomination though. And to all those who made it to the list, congratulations!”

Controversial CS Kuria protest comes months after he was redeployed from the Trade Ministry by President Ruto in a move that was linked to his controversial posts on social media platforms including X and Facebook.

He told off his detractors saying they will be seeking for his reassignment yet again in six months.

“If you were agitated by me when I was handling one Ministry now be prepared for even more discomfort,” Kuria said after the October reshuffle.
