The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has announced the party’s exit from Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.
Speaking to the press on Saturday, November 2, in Webuye, Wamalwa maintained that the party’s stay in the Raila Odinga-led coalition is no longer tenable.
The former Defence Cabinet Secretary accused a section of members of the coalition of betrayal, stating that they were ‘dining’ with the government.
“We will not be party to the praise and worship choir that has been created who have joined the president. We are saying as DAP-K that we cannot and we no longer find it tenable to continue being in a relationship with people who are no longer like-minded with us,” Wamalwa remarked.
The DAP-K leader claimed that some Azimio affiliates are ‘being used’ by the government to bring back heavy taxation that will burden Kenyans.

That party’s exit from Azimio comes months after NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua announced her exit.
In a statement to newsrooms on July 15, Karua, noted that NARC Kenya’s stay in Azimio was no longer tenable.
“As NARC Kenya, by way of this letter, we are giving notice to exit the Coalition as stipulated in the exit clause (s) in the Coalition Agreement. This notice is effective from the date of this letter,” Karua stated.
On July 29, the Party of National Unity (PNU) hinted at leaving Azimio after members of the Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) joined government.
The party’s leader, Peter Munya, disclosed that the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) would hold a meeting to decide the fate of the party in the coalition.
