ACK Bishop calls on President William Ruto to pay attention to the concerns of the anti-finance bill protesters.
Bishop Moses Nthukah Masamba of ACK Mbeere Diocese has called on President William Ruto to be considerate of the Kenyans protesting the Finance Bill 2024.
Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua, along with other ranking state officials, attended the service at the Nyahururu diocese on Sunday, June 23.
The special service was in honour of Reverend Samson Mburu Gachathi who was being consecrated and enthroned as the third Bishop of ACK Diocese of Nyahururu.
Taking the packed audience through his sermon, Bishop Masamba spared time to counsel the government with respect to the recent resistance to the Finance Bill 2024.
Using figurative language, the soft-spoken clergyman argued that it was wise the president gave his ear to the concerns raised by the restive population that has vowed to camp in the streets until their grievances are addressed.
The bishop likened the Kenyan situation to the kingdom of bees
“We ought not to fear. There are challenges in leadership. There are tough times always ahead of us. There are times when the bees get out of their hives and hover around. Some will get to trees, others in stones, and if not careful, others in the house. Where I come from, when the bees leave their hives, we do not stone them, we do not burn them, we sing them songs and urge them to go back to their habitat. After some time, they will go back.
“We have seen the bees recently; they are not bad, and it is good we listen to what they are saying. They should be heard and shown the right hives so they can be calm and make honey for all of us,” he said amid cheers.
Ruto looked on as the bishop delivered his sermon.

Masamba’s preachings came in light of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) instructing places of worship to include concerns about the Finance Bill 2024 in their teachings.
The council argued that with the churches having presented memoranda to the Finance and Planning Committee over the bill, it was prudent that they took the message of peace and justice to the pulpits.
The NCCK provided relevant verses from the Bible that the preachers could reference while addressing the bill’s contentious issues.
In its communique, NCCK noted that the main purpose of the government and social structures is to provide hope and opportunities for the people to build their lives and be productive.
It noted that the bill, if enacted, would burden Kenyans and hamper manufacturing, among other crucial aspects that drive the country; thus urging to cancel it and draft a new one.
