Easy Coach’s founding director and former Managing Director, Azym Dossa, has died.

In a statement on Thursday, February 26, the company said it was deeply saddened by his passing, describing him as a visionary leader whose guidance and dedication shaped Easy Coach from its earliest days.

The company noted that his leadership laid the foundation for the company’s growth and established values that continue to define its operations.

The company stated that Dossa’s contribution to the transport sector and his role in building Easy Coach into a recognised brand will remain a lasting part of its history.

Azym Dossa was a Kenyan entrepreneur and philanthropist best known as the founder and former Managing Director of Easy Coach.

It is alleged that he returned to the country from Canada at the age of 50 to start Easy Coach from scratch, despite discouragement from others.

He established the company in 2003 with a fleet of seven buses and, over more than two decades, grew it into a major transport brand recognised for safety standards, structured booking systems, and dedicated passenger lounges.

Before launching his own venture, Dossa served as Chief Financial Officer at Akamba Bus, gaining nearly 20 years of experience in the transport industry.

His transition from employment to entrepreneurship marked a turning point, as he went on to build Easy Coach into a company operating dozens of buses across key routes in Kenya and the region.

He was widely credited with introducing a customer-focused model in long-distance travel, including comfortable waiting lounges at booking offices and stricter safety protocols for passengers and staff.

In early 2025, he stepped down from active leadership due to health challenges and handed over management to Zulfiqar Adatia.

The company extended condolences to his family and loved ones during this period of mourning, praying that he is granted eternal peace and that those affected by his loss are given strength and patience.
