At least eight people have been confirmed dead in a Monday morning accident on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The 3.00 a.m. accident involved a 14 seater matatu which was heading towards Nakuru direction and the truck that was heading towards the Eldoret direction at Salgaa stretch.
Confirming the reports, Nakuru County Commander Samuel Ndanyi indicated that the accident happened after the matatu collided with the lorry.

“It is a very serious accident with a serious impact. We have taken close to one hour to separate the two vehicles. It was a head-on collision,” said the officer.
The Salgaa stretch in the Ngata area has been a blackspot with many accidents reported in the area.
Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen had earlier announced that there were measures to upgrade the stretch so as to reduce the number of accidents.
In June, following Murkomen’s directive, Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) started the construction of a concrete barrier that is four kilometres long.
